TWITCH.TV – Popular gaming streamer Dunkfire82 unleashed a wave of tweets late last night in which he admitted to his viewers that he has “absolutely no idea what a ‘poggers’ is.”
This shocking announcement comes after Dunkfire’s now-viral statement that paying to stream games on Twitch may be “a little poggers.” Dunkfire immediately took to Twitter following the backlash.
Dunkfire elaborated in an online interview with Critic Score.
“When someone first said poggers in the chat, I gave them a 24 hour timeout. I thought it was some new swear-word, and our chat has a strict no-swearing policy. It wasn’t until I started seeing it more that I realized it probably wasn’t that.”
“I would say things to test the water, calling certain things ‘poggers’ and looking to see what the chat reaction was. I would say things like: ‘Woah, this skin is kind of poggers!’ and ‘Let’s try and poggers this dude.’ Every time the chat would fill with this stupid emoji of some dude making a silly mouth-open face. I literally had no idea what it meant.”
Dunkfire claims that last night was the only time he got any backlash from using the word.
“As soon as I said it, the chat just blew up. I lost 850 viewers in about a minute. I knew I had messed up but I had no clue why.”
In light of the backlash, Dunkfire has announced he will be taking a mental health week from streaming. He has also asked that we inform you not to miss his playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 when he returns. We asked if the playthrough would be “totally poggers,” but have yet to receive a response.
